Angola Joins Regional Maritime University - Tema
The republic of Angola has become the sixth member country of the Regional Maritime University (RMU) following the approval of her application by the institution's board of directors meeting hosted by Liberia. Relatedly, Liberia's Bureau of Maritime Affairs chief executive officer, Mr. John Morlu, assumed the chairperson of the board of governors of the University from Ghana. The meeting was the first to be held since the institution transformed from a regional academy into a degree awarding university.

The RMU based in Tema-Ghana, is a regional institution dedicated to the training of personnel engaged in maritime based industries in the West and Central Africa. The institution is a branch of the World Maritie University, in Malmo, Sweden and an affiliate of the University of Ghana, Legon. more>>

Mayhem At Lagos Port Terminal, Who Is To Blame?
On Friday 14 March 2008, a terminal at Nigeria's premier seaport, the Lagos Port Complex, witnessed what could be described as a mild tsunami. According to the account provided by the operator of the affected terminal, ENL Consortium Ltd, "at about 10:45am, the crane wire onboard a fishing vessel discharging its cargo, MV Green Majestic, snapped and a load of fish fell onto the quayside and killed one dockworker and one motor boy, another dockworker was seriously injured. more>
